Family Week 2010 Details

2010 Speaker and Program

Rev. Mark Chandler, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Dacula, GA, will be the Bible Teacher during Family Week. Pastor Chandler has been a friend of Camp Nathanael for many years and has spoken at other camp events but never Family Week. He has served in the past as an Area Director for Biblical Ministries Worldwide and is a member of SMMM’s Committee of Endorsement. Mark’s wife, Patti, will be joining us for the week as well.

Rev. Jim Park, serving under Acquoni Baptist Church, Cherokee, NC, training national evangelist in the Philippines, will be the Mission Speaker. Jim began his ministry pastoring a Cherokee congregation. As the Lord blessed, that congregation called a Cherokee pastor and commissioned Jim to ministry in the Philippines. We are looking forward to Jim returning to Camp Nathanael after an absence of too many years.

The Haines Family will be leading the Children’s Program held during each adult session. Charlie and Amy Haines and their family have been participants in Family Week for several years. This year we are “putting them to work”. They, along with several of their children, will be teaching, having craft and recreational times for the children, ages 5-12 years old. The Haines serve bi-vocationally with Child Evangelism Fellowship. A nursery (ages 4 years and under) is also provided during each adult meeting.

Storyteller Tim Lowry (website) returns “home” again with Bonnie, his wife (and SMMM MK’er) to regal us with his talent. Tim will be performing during Family Fun Night, Tuesday, July 6, with his new, interactive, one-man show titled “Ribbon of Highway.” Humorous yarns recalling family vacations in a 1970’s Ford Pinto station wagon intersect with dramatic tales of the hero’s journey with pit stops at the interstate Waffle House for “trucker coffee” and snappy one-liners from the flirty waitresses. “The road trip,” says Lowry “is a great American tradition. We all remember stopping at scenic overlooks, buying the postcards and souvenir snow globes, and yelling from the back seat—Are we there yet?!”
